This tune was written when John was a member of the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band for Iain Donaldson – who was the band’s Pipe Sergeant at the time and affectionately known as “Mad Dog”.
The inspiration came from the activities that the band members would participate in after practice while in Scotland. Iain always seemed to end up being the organizer … which often included signing you up (without your knowledge) for Karaoke. So in a sense we were all part of his cabaret … hence the title.
